Academic Mathematics Scholarship
Gloria Vanderbeck, Lake Michigan College alumna and recipient of the Lake Michigan Alumni Award created this award to encourage excellence for students enrolled in mathematic classes. As a former math teacher with Benton Harbor High School, Ms. Vanderbeck understood the importance of of math proficiency.
Based on the achievement of a grade A in Calculus I, students continuing on to the next level in mathematics will be eligible for the award as long as they maintain a grade of A in each level of mathematics, Calculus II, and III, and Differential Equations.

Academic Success Scholarship
It is the intent of the Fredrick S. Upton Foundation was to establish a scholarship that assist families of students with good academic performance and aspirations to get a 4-year degree. These families are not normally eligible for traditional forms of financial aid and the scholarship would assist in meeting the real costs of attendance.
Al & Sue Pscholka Family Endowed Scholarship
The Al and Sue Pscholka Family Endowed Scholarship is intended for students who are overcoming barriers to higher education. Former State Representative Al Pscholka grew up in a single family home and improved academically during his college years. This scholarship is intended to help those learners who are determined to not let barriers stand in their way of academic achievement, and are, committed to lifelong learning.
Andy Reves Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was made possibly by the generosity of Jill Clayes and Janie Reves in the memory of Andy Reves. This award honors Andy's memory by providing support to otherwise self-supporting students who are pursuing a college degree without the benefit of parental support.

Benton Harbor Lions Club A.J. "Bud" Hoffman Honorary Scholarship
To honor Bud Hoffman's memory, the Benton Harbor Lions Club created the "AJ" Bud Hoffman Honorary Scholarship. This scholarship was established to help students pay the financial cost of attending Lake Michigan College. The scholarship helps to pay for tuition costs.
"AJ" Bud Hoffman was born on March 31, 1916 in Benton Harbor. Bud was an active member of the Benton Harbor Lions Club of which he served as president in 1969-1970. Bud was past district governor of Lions District 11-B-2 and received the lion's highest honor-The Melvin Jones Award in 1997.

Bernice Tiscornia Honors Program Scholarship
This scholarship was established by the Tiscornia Foundation to honor Bernice Tiscornia and her outstanding contributions to not only the community in which she lived, but to the entire state of Michigan. The Foundation wishes to reward academic excellence by offering significant financial assistance to students in the College's Honors Program. Students applying for this scholarship must submit an essay that includes their educational and career goals and documents past community service and/or their view of the importance of community service.
Bernice was extremely active in her community and state. She served on the local boards of the Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra, the YWCA and the Maude Preston Palenske Library building committee and was a past president of the Community Services Council and the Twin Cities branch of the American Association of University Women. Nominated to serve on Governor George Romney's Commission on Education, Bernice was tremendously proud to be a delegate to the White House Conference on Aging in 1965. She was a member of the committees that established and located Lake Michigan College.
Berrien County Bar Association Scholarship - recent high school graduates
The Berrien County Bar Association has established this scholarship as part of the Association's commitment to public service, and its belief in the value of higher education and its importance to a person's, and community's quality of life.
Berrien County Medical Society
It is the intent of the donors, the members of the Berrien County Medical Society, to establish a scholarship fund to provide financial assistance for students in both the Registered Nursing and Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) programs at Lake Michigan College. It is the hope of the society's members that the recipients of the awards will remain in the area after completion of their programs to benefit the healthcare needs of the people in the communities the College serves.
Betts Rittmeyer Scholarship - math, science or physical education majors
The Betts Rittmeyer Scholarship was established by contributions form Lake Michigan faculty, friends and family of the late Betts Rittmeyer.
Betts Rittmeyer was a respected and beloved member of the Lake Michigan College faculty. In 1990 she was named Outstanding Teacher of the Year by the Community College Consortium, a partnership of the University of Michigan, University of Toledo, and Michigan State universities. She was also voted as Lake Michigan College's Outstanding Teacher of the Year in 1989-90. As a member of the College's Retention Committee, Rittmeyer worked hard to develop ways to help students, including those at high risk achieve college success.
Betts served as President of the Lake Michigan College Faculty Senate, President of the Kalamazoo Weavers Guild, and member of the steering committee of the Michigan League of Handweavers. She was an avid jogger and swimmer.
Betty Westmaas Piano Scholarship
This scholarship was created by Allan J. Westmaas in honor of his wife Betty. In recognition of her fondness for the piano, this award is to be given to music majors, with preference given to a student majoring in piano performance or pedagogy who plan to transfer to four-year colleges or universities to pursue bachelors' degrees.

Cooper Fine Arts Endowed Scholarship
Established by a bequest from the estate of Emily and Wayne Cooper in 1981, the Cooper Fine Arts Endowed Scholarship was intended to provide student scholarships, to be awarded on the basis of merit. To be eligible, applicants must be enrolled in, or planning to enroll in, art or theatre programs. Students who participate in Lake Michigan College theatre productions will also be eligible.

Dr Elfie Schults-Berndt Honorary Music Scholarship
This scholarship was established by Ronald Schults, David and Anne Brockway, and Nancy Conybeare in honor of the work and passion of Dr. Elfie Schults-Berndt
In 1991 Elfie was appointed full-time faculty at Lake Michigan College where she served as Director of Music, teaching applied piano, music theory, and aural comprehension. She enjoyed performing solo recitals and concertos but her greatest musical interest was found in collaborating with fellow musicians on chamber music.
She was in demand as a collaborative artist and appeared frequently throughout the country in chamber recitals, in summer music festivals, and university recital series. She performed in Steinway Hall, NY in May of 2008. Elfie was dearly beloved by her hundreds of students. She was a gifted and inspirational teacher.
Elfie taught her students that the important thing in life was not necessarily found through music, but in being the best person you can. Be a force for good.
Elfie received numerous awards for her teaching. These included being chosen as the 2006 Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching Michigan Professor of the Year by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), which administers the U.S. Professors of the Year program. She was named LMC Faculty of the Year, 2000; received NISOD Excellence Awards 2000, 2006, (National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development); and LMC Professional Development Grants.

The donor of this scholarship wishes to provide scholarship assistance to students who demonstrate academic excellence and have declared a major field of study.
Dreamer Scholarship - for undocumented students
The Dreamer Scholarship was designed to help students who, by definition of their immigration status are not otherwise eligible to receive financial aid. Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or Dreamers cannot receive federal or state student financial aid, making the cost of a higher education difficult or outside of their reach. This scholarship helps these students defray the cost of their education at Lake Michigan College.
Elaine L. Taylor Memorial Scholarship
In recognition of the value of a college education at any time in one's life, the donors of this endowed scholarship fund, Don and Jan Radde, wish to assist non-traditional students (defined as students who have been out of high school for at least 5 years) who were unable to enter college upon high school graduation or who college education was interrupted. The scholarship is named in memory of Mrs. Radde's mother.

It is the intention for the donor of this scholarship, Renee' R. Williams, to honor Ernest Jr., Nathaniel, Caroline, and Dinah, as well as her sister Betty's daughter, Lisa Bowman, with this award. It is the intention of the donors to provide opportunities for Benton Harbor High School graduates and Benton Harbor residents who are pursuing higher education and a degree at Lake Michigan College. Students who have participated in the Boys and Girls Club will be given highest priority.

Impact 356 Endowed Scholarship
As a tribute to the late community leader and diversity pioneer, Mabel Lee Johnson. This scholarship is intended for focused, degree-seeking students with a drive to persist and a passion for service to their community, as well as for the empowerment of its people.
Indiana Michigan Power Scholars Award - science and technology students
Through this scholarship, Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) seeks to help persons who are underemployed or unemployed gain the technical and academic skills necessary to become employed in a high-skill, high-wage, and high-demand job in the greater southwest Michigan area.

Louise Requardt Naylor Scholarship - applied music students
It is the intent of the donors, who wish to remain anonymous, to establish this scholarship to honor the memory of Louise Requardt Naylor, a former piano teacher and a graduate of the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, Maryland.
It is their hope that this scholarship will "provide" tuition for an applied music student at the College, preferably a piano student, chosen by the scholarship committee. If the scholarship committee feels no such student is qualified, it may be awarded another music student whom they might choose.

Marie Pastrick Olney
The Marie Pastrick Olney Endowed Scholarship has been established by Frank and Cathey Pastrick in memory of Mr. Pastrick's mother. Mr. Pastrick served as a member of the Lake Michigan College Board of Trustees. Marohn Family Scholarship At Lake Michigan College
It is the intent of the donors, the William D. Marohn Family, to fund two endowed scholarships that will be awarded to individuals who are likely to live and work in the local community. The donors wish the recipients to be from the Benton Harbor, St. Joseph or Stevensville area. The donor's intent is to assist students whose education will help build our community.

Organ Transplant of Southwest Michigan/ Edward F. Heyn Memorial Scholarship
The community of Baroda, surrounding communities, the Edward F. Heyn Organ Donor Donation Stamp Committee, and the Organ Transplants of Southwestern Michigan (OTOSM) have established an endowed scholarship in memory of Edward F. Heyn. An organ donor recipient himself, Mr. Heyn was active in promoting donor awareness and in persuading the United States Postal Service to issue a postage stamp for organ donation tissue.
Patti Lee Legacy Scholarship
In her role as instructor, clinical manager, director of the Rad Tech Program, and student services faculty advisor, Patti Lee provided care and direction to many thousands of students, especially to international students. With this scholarship she sees to it that students will continue to benefit from her care and support.
Race Relations Council Service Award Scholarship
It is the intent of the donors of the Race Relations Council, to build positive relations within a diverse community to demonstrate community service to the church, school or other advocacy initiatives.
Redhawk Futures
High school students graduating from an in-district high school in 2024 can receive free tuition to attend Lake Michigan College through the Red Hawk Futures Scholarship program.
Administered by the Lake Michigan College Foundation, all 2024 high school graduates in LMC’s district are eligible for the last-dollar scholarship, covering 100 percent of tuition for classes starting Fall 2024 through Spring semester 2026.
There is no GPA requirement. Students must start college at LMC in the Fall of 2024 to qualify. Students will receive this scholarship for two years of full-time enrollment and must remain in good standing with LMC to continue to receive funding.

Redhawk Future Scholarship
Rich Wohlfert Memorial Scholarship
It is the intention of the donors of this scholarship, friends of Rich Wohlfert, to celebrate his life and honor his memory by supporting students enrolled in the Hospitality Management Program and the Culinary Management Program at Lake Michigan College. The late Rich Wohlfert had an established career in the foodservice industry and made many friends along the way. The donors wish preference to be given to students with one year's experience in the food service industry and with a demonstrated interest in a career in food service.
Richie & Karen Barnes Family Scholarship
It is the intent of the donors, Richie and Karen Barnes and their family, to assist students who may not qualify for other substantial financial aid. The donors do wish character and motivation to be considered in the selection of recipients and would also like the preference to be given to adults with families as they "know the financial hardships of trying to live on one income while bettering oneself through earning a degree.
Robert Small Scholarship - Benton Harbor residents
The Robert Small Scholarship has been established by the Robert Small family, through the Lake Michigan College Educational Foundation. The intent of this scholarship is to assist deserving Lake Michigan College students who are residents of the city of Benton Harbor or Benton Township.
Rotary Club of South Haven Scholarship
It is the intention of the donors, the members of the Rotary Club of South Haven, to provide financial assistance to South Haven area residents who will attend Lake Michigan College and who have demonstrated financial need. It is their hope that this scholarship can help to overcome obstacles to attendance and enhance success toward obtaining accredited college coursework.
Schalon Foundation Music Scholarship
It is the intention of the donors of this award to support students enrolled in the Lake Michigan College Music Department. This scholarship is established in support of the Music Matters Campaign.
Seed of Hope Scholarship for South Haven Students
To promote graduation from college by a South Haven student who has academic promise and financial need. It is the hope of the founders of this scholarship that the recipients will help someone else as a "seed of hope" once they are gainfully employed in their career. Students must attend one of Ward's meeting upon receipt of the scholarship award.
Senator Harry Gast Leadership Endowed Scholarship
Harry Gast served with distinction as Michigan's State Senator for the 20th District from 1978 until his retirement in 2002. During his distinguished career of public service, he was, among other things, an advocate for education, and a strong voice in the State for the importance and value of community colleges. Through his position as Chair of the Community College subcommittee, as well as the Senate Appropriations and Capital Outlay committees, Senator Gast was a champion for community colleges, their projects, and, especially, their students. This scholarship is established to honor Senator Gast for his tireless work on behalf of Lake Michigan College and for his efforts in transforming the educational landscape of the greater Southwest Michigan region.
Shellito Family Scholarship At Lake Michigan College
Dave and Joyce Shellito have funded an endowed scholarship to provide substantial assistance to students. The donors wish preference be given to, but not limited to, single mothers, single parents, or single black males who are working to overcome systemic obstacles, improve their education and broaden their career options to make a better life for themselves and their families.
Sizer Music Matters Scholarship
With this scholarship Steve and Carol Sizer, wish to honor Dr. Elfie Schults-Berndt's contributions to the Lake Michigan College Music Department and to offer financial support to the students enrolled in LMC music programs that were so important to her.
Snow Road Scholarship - Wine and Viticulture majors
This scholarship is to provide support for the education of a promising new winemaker in need of financial aid, enrolled in classes in the Lake Michigan College Wine & Viticulture Technology program. The scholarship funds are awarded spring and summer semesters during the 1st year of the program.
St. Julian Winery in Memory of David Braganini
It is the intent of the donor to encourage students to pursue a degree in the Enology and Viticulture program and start on a path to a career in the wine industry.
Standen Memorial Scholarship for Manufacturing Technology and Industrial Arts Students
The family of the late Ben Standen, longtime faculty member and administrator at Lake Michigan College established this Memorial Scholarship is to encourage the study of the industrial arts and manufacturing technology programs and to assist promising students to successfully complete courses of study in these disciplines and pursue a career in manufacturing technology.
Stephen R. Sizer Endowed Vocal Music Scholarship
This scholarship was originally established in 1999 by Carol L. Sizer to honor her husband's lifelong commitment to the arts and art education in Berrien County.
Student Life Endowed Scholarship
The donors of the Student Life Endowed Scholarship wish to recognize outstanding achievement in the classroom as well as leadership among students in the residence halls and student activities. This scholarship is awarded to a resident of Beckwith Hall.
Tomasini Endowed Scholarship
It is the intention of the donor of this scholarship, Mary Jo Tomasini, to provide scholarship assistance to students who, without this assistance, likely would not be able to attend college or remain enrolled in college. The donor wishes preference to be given to a student from a single parent family or single parent.
Valentine Memorial Scholarship at Lake Michigan College
Established in 1991 in honor of Lake Michigan College Counselor Festus Valentine, the Valentine Memorial Scholarship is intended to provide financial assistance to incoming Lake Michigan College students who enroll in a helping profession such as elementary education, early childhood development, or (pre)nursing. It is the intention that preference is given, though not limited, to minority students. Any student who shows the ability to benefit and is committed to helping future generations should apply.
Virginia Kowerduck Nursing Scholarship
This Scholarship was established in 1987 by a dedicated and caring family in remembrance of the healthcare professionals that were so important to them. This scholarship is designed to be awarded to a Nursing student to help them with the costs of their education.

Women, wine, Viticulture
The purpose of the St. Joe Wine Shoppe Women in Winemaking Fund is to encourage, support, and celebrate women interested in, pursuing, and excelling in the Winemaking industry. The donors wish to allocate funds directed to scholarships for the LMC Wine and Viticulture program and to provide programmatic support for the program. The scholarship is intended to support the tuition, fees, books, technology, daycare, transportation, housing and any related educational expense.

Established by the Sezers, the donors wish to continue the tradition of support for scholarships established over years. This scholarship is designed to assist students pursuing Information Technology or Computer Information Systems degree programs.
